FasTest Tool
The FasTest Tool eliminates the flooding of the entire pipeline where only the test of a weld is required.
When
welding in a flange, valve, ‘tee’ or replacement piece of pipe, the
weld normally is radiographed and/or pressure tested to assure the
integrity of the repair or installation. The chosen method of assurance
is up to the operator of the pipeline.
When using the FasTest Tool
it is simply inserted to the proper depth, bridging the area of the
weld. It is then activated and hydrostatic pressure is applied in the
annulus. The amount of applied pressure is registered by an external
gauge. The success or failure of the weld will be quickly indicated by
static pressure or pressure loss.

No flanges or other pipe fittings are needed for the test, therefore no
mistakes are likely when planning on this type of test. The test period
is much shorter in duration since the entire pipe with its entrained
gas, temperature fluctuations, etc., is eliminated. The volume
of water needed for testing is minimal, frequently only one gallon or
less. The problem of getting rid of polluted water from testing the
whole pipeline is also eliminated. Once the hydrostatic test is completed the tool is easily and quickly removed from the pipe.
