Sea Clamp*
The standard Sea Clamp that was introduced to the marine
pipeline market was designed for marine exposure and to have diver
friendly features. These features speed up the installation process
thereby cutting the downtime for pipeline leak repairs. The Sea Clamp
was designed for ANSI 600 service, although some have been purpose
built, and tested through 10,000 psi. (703 kg/cm2) and no leaks! This
is evidence that we are ever increasing the capacity of our Sea Clamp in a concerted effort to offer a wider range of solutions to pipeline leaks through R & D.

The Sea Clamp is liked by divers as well as topside technicians due to the ease of installation. By design, no backup wrenches are required.

Large annulus Sea Clamps
are purchased and stocked by many pipeline companies as an emergency
precautionary measure in the event one of their main lines should leak.

The photo to the right shows a close-up view of a Sea Clamp
and its packing. On close examination you will see the orange
circumferential packing retainer. This space age polymer is impervious
to salt water as well as crude product exposure over extended periods.
This retainer eliminates the problem of corrosion and failure of the
metal retainer rings through submersion in sea water. It requires no
grinding for the removal of the retaining rings nor re-welding of new
ones. Everything can be done with hand tools in the field.

Daspit Manufacturing prides itself on rapid fabrication and
delivery of a variety of clamps and connectors that are necessary for
emergency pipeline repairs. Nominal API pipe size Sea Clamps in sizes 2" through 24" are in stock for immediate delivery.

When material is not available in house, Daspit Manufacturing
personnel know exactly where to go to get the material so you receive
your clamp promptly. Complete traceability of all raw materials is
available.

Sea Clamp Packing
Higher pressure Sea Clamps were special orders (longer waiting times, higher costs) but Daspit Manufacturing
started building clamps with 2250 psi test (158 kg/cm2), 1500 psi (105
kg/cm2) working pressure as stock articles. As the need for higher
pressure clamps and connectors evolved, Daspit Manufacturing
continued designing for these increase requirements, and we might add
with a bit of pride - no subsidies from the industry requested.
H2s Applications
Now R & D by Daspit Manufacturing, along with the standard Sea Clamp,
has produced an entirely new clamp. It, by design, is impervious to
damage caused by corrosive pipeline products, such as sour gas or oil
(H2S, CO2), salt water, paraffin dissolving additives or a combination
of the above.
All of the internal faces of the clamp that are
exposed to the pipeline products, are specially formulated to be inert
to the reactive components that eat away the insides of other clamps’
inner steel surfaces, and also destroy the seals, thus shortening its
effective life span.
Now the exposed inner surface of the clamp
is affixed with an amorphous impenetrable shield, and the seals are
especially formulated to resist any deterioration by the product being
transported. This results in a permanent enclosure over the hole, crack
or split in the wall of the transporting pipe.
The two photographs above show the installation of an ANSI 300 26" Sea Clamp which was purpose built for a client in Nigeria. Rapid delivery was essential. The client was in desperate need of a Sea Clamp to repair a leaking oil line which was causing a serious pollution problem and shutting down production. This Sea Clamp was fabricated and shipped to the export packer within 36 hours of receiving the raw material from the supplier.
The 42" Sea Clamps which are shown in the photo directly above are only two of 36 Sea Clamps and Perma-Loks fabricated and delivered for an emergency pipeline repair contingency plan for Nigeria.
