Stab Sleeve
The Stab Sleeve by Daspit Manufacturing Company is used in low pressure repairs. Several design features make the Stab Sleeve an important asset in riser repairs:
- A wide ring, machined to fit closely to the pipe makes it less
likely that the ring will be jammed when being tightened by divers.
- Clamping bolts are purposely staggered so they will not cause pipe denting and slippage at lower tensile loads.
- A wide gasket provides a greater sealing area which is more dependable in corroded riser repairs.
- The Stab Sleeve gasket is composed of quality (BUNA N) nitrile rubber, an industry standard. Other elastomeric compounds can be ordered.
- An 'O' ring is provided to prevent sea water and oxygen intrusion to prevent serious corrosion problems within the tool.
- Grease fittings are part of the design. The grease displaces the
sea water within the sleeve, further reducing the possibility of
corrosion.
- Each sleeve has a heavy wall, therefore it will last longer in a marine environment above or below the surface of the water.
